Hi, I'm Lucia

I'm a berlin-based

language nerd
design generalist
systems lover

product designer

Pectus Finance

As one of two designers, I helped to build a foundation to grow design ops at Pectus. We setup a design system, established smooth collaboration processes with engineers and created a product vision that will guide the start-up over the next years.

Pectus aims to replace outdated tools like Excel. It accelerates data-driven decision-making through easy data access and enhanced collaboration (s. designing the table).

About me

Resume
When I finished my BA at Humboldt University, I was considering a career as a chef since I was already cooking for a living. While I loved the idea of creative, hands-on work, the lack of perspective and analytical calm made me change my mind.

Design has always been inspiring me. Be it visiting the Mies van der Rohe houses near my hometown, devouring my mother’s fashion magazines or spending hours reading comics and zines - these experiences taught me to recognize and appreciate wholesome creations. That’s why, retraining as UX designer seemed like an exciting and somewhat natural choice to me.

In early 2022 I finished my UX certificate and used my network to get my first projects. Since then I’ve been working full-time at a B2B fintech start-up building  planning and analysis tools that integrate data from accounting, HR and CRM platforms.

Currently I am available for contract work in Berlin.

How I work

User-centric design means to me keeping focus and confronting biases. I strive to define problems and validate solutions through research while never losing sight of the big picture. This approach helps me to bring structure to complex data and to get to the bottom of what it is people need to do and why. Ultimately, my goal is to create that symbiosis between form and function that makes out great software.

Of course, I cannot do that alone. Team work is essential to build exceptional products. That’s why I highly value a good company culture that fosters respectful collaboration and personal growth.

How I work with others

Open exchange is the key to success. Whether it is users giving me input on the product or colleagues looking at my designs with fresh eyes - gaining that external perspective is infinitely valuable.

As someone who grew up in a multicultural household, I appreciate open communication and openness.

Understanding everyone's point of view makes me a better designer - mediating between different groups and translating values and functions into practical aesthetic language.
